Support Liver Function

The most important metabolic organ in the body, the liver is a gland which weighs approximately 1.5 kg. It is located in the upper right section of the abdomen, below the diaphragm (i.e. below the right rib arch which protects it against trauma).

In the event of liver failure, the person cannot survive for longer than two days without adequate medical support. This speaks volumes about the core role of the liver.

When you think of the liver, you can imagine it as a biochemical laboratory. In fact, the liver performs over 500 functions in the body: it is where blood proteins and coagulation factors are formed; all fat-soluble vitamins are deposited there; different metabolic processes take place there (metabolism of body energy fuel, metabolism of oligo-elements, metabolism of bile colours), as well as detoxification (elimination of alcohol and of drugs).

In conditions where liver function is compromised, various symptoms and signs can appear as a result of liver function disorders.

Liver dysfunction can pose a serious threat to your life and it requires immediate medical attention. That’s why our team of specialists with international experience has developed a unique, comprehensive therapy program with personalised diet plans and all the necessary steps to help make your liver functional again.

Liver Disease

The most common liver condition covers inflammatory processes of the liver – hepatitis.

Hepatitis is an inflammatory liver disease which is caused by a range of factors, such as toxins, drugs, alcohol, viruses, bacteria, fungi, etc. It is characterized by destruction of liver cells and release of intracellular enzymes, with release of liver enzymes increased by at least 10 times.
The most common viral hepatitis is caused by Hepatitis A, B, C, D, or E. Hepatitis B and C viruses are transmitted directly (by either sexual contact or through the placenta) and are considered most dangerous. They have a tendency of becoming chronic and as time goes by, a more serious condition – cirrhosis – can arise. As cirrhosis progresses, so do the signs of liver insufficiency, or weakness.

Hepatitis B and C viruses are potentially oncogenic and can cause liver cancer.

The symptoms of liver dysfunction

It can take a long time for liver dysfunction to develop. The symptoms of liver dysfunction are often mistaken for symptoms of other medical conditions. Over time, the symptoms tend to intensify and it becomes easier to recognise them.

The symptoms of chronic liver disease include fatigue, lack of energy, nausea, pain in the upper right section of the abdomen, digestive problems, weight loss, bloating, internal bleeding, frequent infections, ammonia intoxication, and psychological symptoms.

Diagnostics

The diagnostic segment of the treatment comprises an interview, whole-body screenings, and extensive medical examinations. It aims to gauge the degree of liver damage and the complications and metabolic disorders in the body, and to diagnose possible comorbidities (i.e. added diseases). It consists of a detailed anamnesis, physical and internist examination, complete laboratory examination, and other specialist examinations.

IM Clinic Treatments

Once the core of the problem has been identified, we design a customized therapy plan that combines different treatments.

Stem cells therapy

Stem cells therapy

Adipose tissue stem cell treatment – Lauded due its success, this effective therapeutic method is used to alleviate liver failure. Undifferentiated adipose tissue stem cell transplantation has shown huge benefits for liver regeneration – it meliorates histopathologic damage of the liver, and upregulates the expression of liver regeneration.

Metabolic treatment

Metabolic treatment

In order to prevent complications caused by liver damage to other organs, it is necessary to begin with a therapy that will stimulate metabolic processes in the body and accelerate digestion, heart, and CNS function.

Antiviral Therapy

Antiviral Therapy

In cases of diagnosed viral hepatitis, it is first necessary to approach the treatment of viral hepatitis with antiviral drugs that prevent replication, i.e. further propagation of the virus and allow for its elimination. The therapeutic protocol is adapted to the individual virus genotype and in accordance with the presence/absence of complications such as fibrosis or liver cirrhosis.

Regenerative therapy

Regenerative therapy

Use of the most advanced methods with a high regenerative potential such as cytokines or secretomes makes room for the regeneration of the damaged sections of the liver, but only after the inflammatory processes have subsided.

Physiotherapy

Physiotherapy

These procedures aim to improve circulation, speed up elimination of toxins, and stimulate metabolic processes at the cellular level. They also reduce oxidative stress and promote oxygenation at tissue level.

Hepatoprotective therapy

Hepatoprotective therapy

One of the crucial elements of the treatment is the therapy that supports liver function, accelerates detoxification, and provides adequate protection to the liver.

Prevention of complications

Prevention of complications

Prevention of cirrhosis, hypoproteinemia, hypoalbuminemia, encephalopathy complications, complications with kidneys.

What Results Can You Expect?

If the patient was diagnosed with viral hepatitis, it is necessary to approach the case with drugs that prevent the virus’ replication and allow for its eradication. Also, our metabolic therapy will stimulate the body, accelerate the digestion and prevent complications that can be caused by liver damage to other organs. Our regenerative therapy will help the regeneration of damaged parts of the liver and prevent cirrhosis prevention, complications with kidneys. Last but not least, our physiotherapy will improve your circulation, speed up the elimination of toxins, stimulate metabolic processes at the cellular level and reduce oxidative stress.

Duration

Based on your individual condition, our doctors will recommend a treatment plan that they deem best-suited to you which promises most effective results for your condition. Normally, we offer a short treatment plan that lasts for 7 days, and a longer treatment plan that lasts for 14 days. Of course, the duration of your treatment can be adapted according to your needs and wishes in consultation with our team of medical experts.

Follow-up

Based on IM Clinic experience, one of the most important phases is the follow-up phase after the therapy. Our doctors actively follow your progress during the period of a minimum of 12 months because your health deserves constant attention. It is recommended to have check-ups every three months and during the course of the treatment, our medical team will be available to the patients via e-mail or phone for consultations and recommendations they might need. This covers recommendations as regards the diet and direct calls to specialists who will ensure the healing process is progressing as planned.
